NEET PG: NMC approves 4201 PG medical seats in Private medical colleges for 2025-26, Details

New Delhi: The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 4201 new postgraduate medical seats in Broad Specialities at the private medical colleges for Academic Year 2025-26.

"In continuation to approval granted for PG Seats in Broad Specialties (BS) to the Govt. Medical Colleges and Deemed to be Pvt. Universities for AY 2025-26, a list of approved new and increase in intake of PG seats of Private Medical Colleges for AY 2025-26 is attached for the information of all stakeholders," MARB mentioned in its notice dated 27.11.2025.

Referring to the MARB's notice, the NMC Director issued a notice and added, "Kind reference is invited to the Medical Assessment and Rating Board’s (MARB) Notice of No. No. N-19011/13/2025 dated 27-11-2025 regarding updated seat matrix in view of recent changes of PG Seats for Broad Specialist (BS) as additional seats sanctioned for PG (BS) for the Academic Year 2025-26 in Private Medical Colleges. All the concerned Medical Institutions, Parents, Student and other stakeholders are requested to take note of the same."

According to the data shared by NMC, 3123 seats were already existing, 4201 seats have been newly approved and taking all seats in consideration, the total number of seats is 7324.

MARB has further mentioned in the notice that the LOPs for newly sanctioned/increased PG seats for AY 2025-26 are in the process of being issued and therefore the counselling authorities need not wait for the LOP’s from institutions to include them in the counselling process.

"The list uploaded in the website shall be considered as valid document for counselling process," it clarified.

Specialty-wise PG Seat Matrix:

Specialty-wise, NMC has approved 318 new seats in MD Anaesthesiology, 88 new seats in MD Anatomy, 112 seats in MD Biochemistry, 3 seats in MD Community Health Administration, 142 seats in MD Community Medicine, 240 seats in MD Dermatology Venereology & Leprosy, 99 seats in MD Emergency Medicine, 2 seats in MD Family Medicine, 48 seats in MD Forensic Medicine/Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, 283 seats in MD General Medicine, 4 seats in MD Hospital Administration, 6 seats in MD Immuno Haematology & Blood Transfusion, 3 seats in MD Lab Medicine, 109 seats in MD Microbiology, 8 seats in MD Nuclear Medicine, 296 seats in MD Paediatrics, 177 seats in MD Pathology, 119 seats in MD Pharmacology, 7 seats in MD Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, 107 seats in MD Physiology, 163 seats in MD Psychiatry, 30 seats in MD Radiation Oncology, 314 seats in MD Radio Diagnosis, 123 seats in MD Respiratory Medicine, and 14 seats in MD Biochemistry,

Further, 251 seats in MS General Surgery, 282 seats in MS Obstetrics & Gynecology, 238 seats in MS Ophthalmology, 355 seats in MS Orthopaedics, and 257 seats in MS - Otorhinolaryngology have also been approved by the Commission.

As per the data released by NMC, 3123 seats already existed, 4201 seats have been approved, and therefore, the total number of seats is 7324.

State-wise, NMC has approved 316 seats in Andhra Pradesh, 163 seats in Bihar, 74 seats in Chhattisgarh, 231 seats in Gujarat, 119 seats in Haryana, 712 seats in Karnataka, 53 seats in Kerala, 368 seats in Madhya Pradesh, 146 seats in Maharashtra, 43 in Orissa, 7 seats in Pondicherry, 57 seats in Punjab, 271 seats in Rajasthan, 418 seats in Tamil Nadu, 353 seats in Telangana, 10 seats in Tripura, 613 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 70 seats in Uttarakhand, and 177 seats in West Bengal.
