New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked all the medical universities to furnish the tentative examination schedule for the Broad Specialty PG Courses (NEET SS) for the 2020 batch.
Giving a deadline to all the concerned Registrars, Aujender Singh, Deputy Secretary to PG Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of NMC, has asked for an urgent submission of the said exam schedule by 17th March 2023.
According to the NMC, the exam schedule is strictly required to prepare for the NEET SS 2023 examination dates.
The academic session for Broad Specialty Post Graduate Medical courses starts on 1st May, and the last date of admission used to be 31st May as per Post Graduate Medical Education Regulation, 2000, as amended from time to time. Universities used to conduct the final examination accordingly in the month of March-April. However, due to COVID Pandemic, the academic session 2020 was delayed and could start on 1st July. Therefore, the final examination for these courses is also expected to be delayed.
“In this regard, it is requested provide the tentative examination schedule for the Broad Specialty PG Courses for the 2020 batch. This information is urgently required for deciding the NEET SS Exam 2023 schedule. This may kindly be treated as most urgent, and the tentative time schedule may please be provided at the earliest and latest by 17.03.2023 positively,” stated the NMC notification.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in an attempt to ensure that all Postgraduate medical admissions have been done in accordance with the provisions of relevant rules and regulations, the PGMEB of the apex medical regulator had directed all the medical colleges/ institutes for submitting details of all the students admitted to PG (Broad & Super-specialty) courses during the academic year 2022-2023. The NMC then reopened its portal for filling up the information related to PG SS courses till March 7.
Moreover, earlier this month, pointing out that more than 900 super-speciality seats are lying vacant even after the NEET SS 2022 Mop up round counselling session, the doctors under the umbrella of the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) urged the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to conduct another mop-up round for filling up the vacant seats.
