New PG Medical Courses, Intake Increase: NMC Notifies Final Decision on 143 Applications from 28 Medical Colleges
New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has notified its final decision on 143 applications received from 28 medical institutes for starting new postgraduate medical courses and increasing the PG medical seats in the existing courses for the academic year 2024-2025.
Among these 143 applications, 107 applications were for the starting of new PG medical courses and 36 applications for an increase of seats in PG medical courses.
NMC notified its final decision on these applications and communicated them to the concerned medical institutes through their e-mail IDs for information and necessary action within the stipulated timeline.
Issuing a notice in this regard on 30th May, 2024, NMC MARB mentioned, "In continuation of MARB’s Public Notice dated the 28th April 2024, with reference to applications from medical institutions for start or increase of PG medical courses/seats, it is informed that final decision of MARB in respect of 143 more applications (for starting of new PG Medical courses and increase of seats in PG Medical courses for the Academic year: 2024-25) has been communicated through e-mail IDs (as mentioned in online applications) to the Medical Institutions/Colleges concerned for information and necessary action by them within the stipulated timeline."
"A list containing application number of each of the aforesaid 143 applications (107 applications for starting of new PG Medical courses and 36 applications for increase of seats in PG Medical courses) is attached with this public notice for general information," it further mentioned.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that through a notice dated 28.04.2024, NMC had sent its final decision to 18 medical colleges in respect of 101 applications for the starting of new PG medical courses and an increase of seats for the academic year 2024-2025. At that time, the Commission had informed that communications of the final decision in respect of remaining applications would be sent in due course. Again on 04.05.2024, NMC issued another notice and communicated its final decision to 31 medical institutes in respect of 153 applications.
Referring to these earlier communications, the Apex Medical Commission mentioned in the notice dated 30.04.2024, "It may be recalled that vide MARB’s Public notice of even number dated the 28th April 2024, 4th May 2024, 10th May 2024, 18th May 2024 & 21st May 2024 it was informed that final decision in respect of 608 online PG Medical course applications (436 applications for starting of new PG Medical courses and 172 applications for increase of seats in PG Medical courses) had already been communicated through the email IDs (as mentioned in online applications) to the Medical Institutions/Colleges concerned."
"Final decision in respect of remaining applications received online will be sent in due course. This issues with the approval of the Competent Authority," it added.
