NMC allots ZERO MBBS seats at 9 Medical Colleges

National Medical Commission (NMC)
New Delhi: A total of 9 medical colleges have been allotted zero MBBS seats for NEET 2025 counselling this year by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The information to this effect comes from a recent notification issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on its official website in which the counselling body declared the tentative number of 1,15,900 MBBS seats available across medical colleges in the country for this academic year's admissions.
According to the seat matrix, which lists the names of 775 medical colleges and their MBBS intake for 2025 admissions, nine medical institutes have shown with zero seats. The colleges with zero MBBS intake this year include institutions from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh. Among the affected institutes are prominent names such as Index Medical College in Indore, Hamdard Institute in Delhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Belgaum.
The said medical colleges are as follows:
- Gayathri Vidya Parishad Institute of Health Care & Medical Technology, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
- Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Raipur, Chhattisgarh
- Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Guru Ravidas Marg, Hamdard Nagar, New Delhi
- Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Kalol, Gandhinagar, Gujarat
- Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum, Karnataka
- Index Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Indore, Madhya Pradesh
- Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital, Udaipur, Rajasthan
- Father Colombo Institute of Medical Sciences, Warangal, Telangana
- National Capital Region Institute of Medical Sciences, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh
The allotment of zero MBBS seats comes at a time when a major CBI probe is underway into alleged corruption involving medical college inspections and approvals. Some of the institutions listed have been directly named in the ongoing investigation, which has exposed issues such as bribery, the use of proxy faculty, and falsified compliance reports.
