NMC approves 540 DM, MCh seats across 89 medical colleges, Details

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted an additional 540 seats to 89 medical colleges across the country after considering applications for new and increased PG Super-Specialty courses for the academic year 2025-26.
Speciality-wise, the highest number of approvals was seen in DM Cardiology with 64 seats, followed by M.Ch Urology with 48 seats, M.Ch Surgical Oncology with 40 seats, and M.Ch Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery with 39 seats.
Additionally, DM Nephrology got 39 seats, DM Critical Care Medicine received 34 seats, M.Ch Neurosurgery got 31 seats, DM Neurology got 25 seats and M.Ch Paediatric Surgery got 25 seats, DM Neonatology got 24 seats, DM Medical Gastroenterology got 20 seats, M.Ch Surgical Gastroenterology got 18 seats, DM Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology got 16 seats, DM Cardiac Anaesthesia got 14 seats, DM Medical Oncology got 14 seats and DM Interventional Radiology received 12 seats.
DM Endocrinology was granted 8 seats, DM Neuro Anaesthesia (8 seats), DM Onco Pathology (8 seats), DM Pulmonary Medicine (7 seats), DM Medical Genetics (5 seats), M.Ch Vascular Surgery (5 seats), DM Clinical Haematology (4 seats), DM Paediatric and Neonatal Anaesthesia (4 seats), DM Pediatric Cardiology (4 seats), M.Ch Head and Neck Surgery (4 seats), DM Paediatric Nephrology (2 seats), DM Pediatric Gastroenterology (2 seats), DM Hepatology (2 seats), DM Geriatric Mental Health (2 seats) and M.Ch Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgery (2 seats).
The seats were granted in medical colleges across multiple states, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
A total of 89 medical colleges have received approvals. The approved colleges include Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre, Cuttack; ACS Medical College and Hospital, Chennai; Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Bellur; American International Institute of Medical Sciences, Bedwas; Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi; B J Medical College, Ahmedabad; Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore; Bharati Vidyapeeth University Medical College, Pune; Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya; Chettinad Hospital & Research Institute, Kanchipuram; Christian Medical College, Vellore; Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore; Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana; Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati; Dr. M.K. Shah Medical College, Ahmedabad; Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow; G.B. These approved seats were notified through a public notice issued by Dr. M. K Ramesh, President of Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB) which stated, "In continuation to approval granted for PG Seats in Broad Specialties (BS) for AY 2025-26, a list of approved new and increase in intake of PG seats for Super-Specialty courses for AY 2025-26 is attached for the information of all stakeholders."
"The individual LOPs for newly sanctioned/increased PG SuperSpecialty seats for AY 2025-26 are in the process of being issued. Hence, this list shall be considered as Deemed to be LoP's for the Counselling purpose by the authorities. Any inadvertent discrepancies in the list may be brought to the notice of the undersigned within seven working days," it further added.
