NMC Calls for Improved Communication with Medical Associations, asks for details
New Delhi - The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public notice urging medical associations in India to provide updated contact details of their key officials for better communication and collaboration.
"The NMC, in its efforts to address challenges faced by Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs) in accessing continuing medical education and professional development opportunities, aims to enhance interaction with medical associations at the national level. RMPs are an integral part of the healthcare system in India, particularly in rural and underserved areas, where they provide essential care to patients. Recognizing their vital role in delivering primary care, the NMC is committed to supporting RMPs by facilitating their access to educational resources and professional development opportunities," the notice stated.
The notice further added that the Ethics & Medical Registration Board (EMRB), a part of the NMC, has been actively working towards this objective. The draft Conduct Regulation on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is one of the initiatives undertaken by the EMRB to address the challenges faced by RMPs. The regulation aims to ensure that RMPs have access to quality continuing medical education and opportunities for professional growth.
Thus, in order to foster collaboration and facilitate effective communication, the NMC has now sought the assistance of national-level medical associations. The NMC has requested the presidents and secretaries of these medical associations to provide updated contact details through a Google form. This information will enable the NMC to establish direct lines of communication with medical associations and engage in meaningful interactions.
The NMC noted that these interactions will be mutually beneficial for both the medical associations and the commission. By inviting the presidents and secretaries of the associations for future interactions at the NMC, the commission aims to create a platform for knowledge exchange and address any queries or concerns they may have. The NMC further expressed that such interactions will contribute to the overall improvement of the healthcare system in the country
The NMC has set a deadline of August 4, 2023, for medical associations to provide the updated contact details of their presidents and secretaries.
