NMC clarifies on login credentials to be used by medical colleges for filing appeals through new portal

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a fresh clarification for medical colleges and institutions seeking to challenge decisions of its Autonomous Boards, specifying the login credentials to be used while accessing the newly launched Online Appeal Portal.
In a recent public notice, the Commission informed that medical colleges which had applied for the establishment of a new medical college for the academic year 2026-27 and wish to appeal against a decision of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) must use the same email ID and password that were used while submitting their original application to MARB.
According to the Commission, institutions should carefully read the User Manual and follow all instructions available on the portal before filing an appeal. Using the prescribed login credentials will ensure seamless access and avoid delays in the appeal process.
Earlier, through a public notice, the NMC had announced that all appeals against decisions of the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB), Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), and MARB under the provisions of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, would henceforth be accepted only through the Online Appeal Portal. Appeals submitted through email or any other mode have been discontinued with immediate effect.
Institutions are also required to upload the impugned order, appeal letter, and other relevant documents such as show-cause notices, compliance reports, assessment reports, and self-declarations, wherever applicable. The prescribed appeal fee is ₹50,000 plus applicable GST, which can be paid through the online payment gateway or via NEFT/RTGS.
STEPS TO FILE APPEAL
STEP 1- Open the Appeal Portal and log in using authorised college credentials. Enter User ID, Password and Captcha before clicking Login.
STEP 2- The dashboard provides access to Icons of “Total Appeal Applications”, “Pending Appeal Applications”, “Appeals Disposed of”, “Appeal Applications not Admitted”, “Deficiency Raised”, and “Search Filters.”
STEP 3- Click “Add New Appeal”. The system creates a draft application. Complete all mandatory fields before submission.
STEP 4- Verify pre-filled college details. Update contact information wherever permitted.
STEP 5- Select the Board, applicable Section/Regulation, Academic Year and Course. The available options depend upon the Board selected.
STEP 6- Enter Order Number, Order Date and upload the impugned order. Upload the appeal letter as a PDF.
STEP 7- Upload Show Cause Notice, Compliance Report, Assessment Report, Self-Declaration and any other relevant documents, wherever applicable.
STEP 8- Read the declaration carefully, tick the declaration checkbox, save the draft if required, or proceed with Make Payment & Submit.
STEP 9- The appeal fee is ₹50,000 plus applicable GST. Payment may be made through Online Gateway or NEFT/RTGS.
The latest clarification has been addressed to all applicant medical colleges and institutions seeking establishment of new medical colleges for AY 2026-27 and has also been circulated to the Departments and Directorates of Medical Education across States and Union Territories for information.
