New Delhi: The Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided to give an additional opportunity to the candidates to apply for Eligibility Certificates.

NMC has decided to keep the window open to receive applications in this regard from 18.11.2024 to 25.11.2024 till 6:00 PM. This additional opportunity is being given to the candidates after the Commission received representations from some of the candidates claiming that they could not submit their applications within the previous deadline i.e. 04.11.2024 due to technical issues.

Therefore, candidates can now apply for Eligibility Certificates through the National Medical Commission’s website mentioned in the notice below.

However, NMC has advised the candidates not to wait till the last date and submit their applications as early as possible.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that NMC had asked the candidates who would appear in the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) in December 2024 to apply for Eligibility Certificates by 4th November 2024.

It is mandatory for the MBBS graduates from abroad to obtain an eligibility certificate to appear for the mandatory screening test i.e. FMGE, clearing which is a must for the candidates to register themselves as registered medical practitioners.

Issuing a notice on 10.09.2024, NMC had mentioned that the window to apply for eligibility certificates would remain open from 05.09.2024 at 09:30 AM onwards till 04.11.2024 till 06:00 PM.

Referring to this, NMC Ethics Board mentioned in a notice dated 15.11.2024, "The candidates desirous of seeking Eligibility Certificates from EMRB, NMC may please refer to the previous Public Notice on the subject mentioned above wherein candidates were given the last opportunity to apply for the Eligibility Certificate till 4th November 2024. The Registration EMRB has received representations from some candidates that due to technical issues, they were not able to submit their applications within the above time frame."

Giving one additional opportunity to them, the Commission added, "Keeping in view of the career prospects of the applicants and sensitivities involved in the matter, it has been decided by the EMRB, NMC to give an additional opportunity to the candidates who were not able to submit their applicants earlier for issuance of the Eligibility Certificate. Accordingly, the applications may be submitted through the National Medical Commission’s website... as per the schedule given below..."

The schedule for the FMGs to apply for the eligibility certificates is as follows:

Processes

Timelines

Online Submission of Application

18th November 2024 (11:00 AM Onwards)

Last Date for Submission of Application

25th November, 2024 (Till 06:00 PM)

Note: Incomplete applications in any form will not be processed and shall be summarily rejected and EMRB, NMC shall not be responsible in this regard. Thereafter the portal for applying the application shall be closed.

"It is advised that the candidates may not wait for the last date to apply and should submit their applications as early as possible. It may also be noted and appreciated that the issuance of an Eligibility Certificate involves multiple checks to ascertain eligibility in accordance with the provisions of the regulations in vogue, therefore, it takes time to complete the whole process. Further, the candidates should fill the application form scrupulously in order to avoid unnecessary movement of the application to and fro to throughout the deficiencies," NMC mentioned in the notice.

"It is worth mentioning here that the EMRB has been working proactively, within the provisions of Regulations and the available resources, to process and issue Eligibility Certificates to all the eligible candidates in time, and accordingly all applicants are requested to keep patience and should avoid visiting National Medical Commission unnecessarily for the purpose. However, candidates may watch their email ids and online portal regularly for updates," it added.

NMC clarified in the notice that "The Registration EMRB would consider further requests for opening the portal based on requirements in consultation with all the stakeholders."
