Say No to Corruption, Commit to the Nation: NMC officials, staff take Integrity Pledge
New Delhi: In a significant move to bolster integrity and accountability within the healthcare regulatory body, the National Medical Commission (NMC) marked Vigilance Awareness Week with a solemn pledge against corruption. On November 6, 2023, Dr. B.N. Gangadhar, the esteemed Chairman of the NMC, led the Commission's staff and officers in a collective commitment to uphold ethical practices, titled the Integrity Pledge.
Aligning with this year's theme, "Say No to Corruption; Commit to the Nation,” the Chairman's address to the Commission highlighted the need to integrate transparency into daily and official conduct.
He emphasized that by taking this pledge we all should remind and recommit ourselves to promote transparency, integrity and accountability in our daily life as well as in official dealings. He further stressed that we, in collaboration with the public and stakeholders, should fight all forms of corruption with our full strength.
Employees were also encouraged to take the pledge online by visiting the website of Central Vigilance Commission.
The Integrity Pledge serves as a powerful symbol of the NMC’s commitment to ethical conduct and underscores the organization’s dedication to its mission of ensuring quality healthcare services and medical education across the nation.
Vigilance Awareness Week is a significant step in raising awareness about the detrimental impact of corruption on society and the importance of fostering integrity and transparency in all sectors, including healthcare.

The National Medical Commission was formed to replace the Medical Council of India (MCI) as the apex medical regulator after the MCI was marred by persistent allegations and instances of corruption over the years. These accusations included misuse of authority, financial irregularities, and unethical practices within the medical education regulation system.
