Invalid Recruitments at AIIMS Patna : HC asks Centre to reply
In the year 2013, the Arya Committee was constituted to look into the matter of appointment of doctors at the various branches of AIIMS across the country, including Patna. Subsequently, the committee found that the appointments were not made according to the necessary qualifications and were, in fact, invalid in nature.
Patna: After hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleging that the recruitment of doctors at the new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna branch, was taking place on invalid grounds, the Bihar High Court has sought a reply from the central government.
The division bench comprising honourable Chief Justice Mukesh R Shah and Justice Ravi Ranjan passed the order on the PIL filed by the concerned Janhit Abhiyan. The PIL alleged that doctors' recruitment at the institute was not done on valid grounds and prescribed rules were not followed.
The counsel for the petitioners informed the court that in the year 2013, the Arya Committee was constituted to look into the matter of appointment of doctors at the various branches of AIIMS across the country, including Patna. Subsequently, the committee found that the appointments were not made according to the necessary qualifications and were, in fact, invalid in nature.
Further, the committee report was sent to the central government with recommendations for actions to be initiated against the errant officials. It also asked the authorities to remove those doctors who had been recruited on an invalid basis. Based on that, notices were served on doctors of AIIMS Patna seeking replies on their said appointments, as per a recent report by the Telegraph
Now, recently the high court has sought the central government’s reply on the measures that it was taking to implement recommendations of the Arya Committee. According to the daily, the bench has directed the central government to file its reply by August 28.
