Kolkata: Gynaecologist kidnapped for Rs 20 lakh ransom, rescued by locals
Howrah: A Kolkata based male gynecologist recently became the victim of kidnapping after he was abducted 4 men who demanded Rs 20 lakh ransom to release him. The doctor was released after the locals intercepted to help catch the kidnappers as they were receiving the money
TOI reports about the incident took place on Monday, when Dr Kalyan Dey was on his way to his work chamber. He car was intercepted by the 4 men on a bike who blocked him. They then forcibly drew him out of the car and took him . The kidnappers demanded Rs 50 lakh as ransom but with repeated requests made by the doctor, they at last settled for Rs 20 lakh

Later, on the instructions of the accused, the doctor called his family and asked them to arrange the money. When the two of four kidnappers reached his place to collect the money, they were caught by locals from his own neighbourhood.
The locals then took the culprits to the Chatterjeehat police station where the police started an investigation and found the doctor on the address provided by the culprits.
Police arrested two kidnappers while two are still on the run.
