Labour Pain: FIR against doctors for allegedly slapping, shouting at pregnant patient
West Bengal: Complaint has been filed against two medical practitioners associated with the Midnapore Medical College and Hospital, after a woman and her family went to the police alleging that the doctors slapped and verbally abused the pregnant woman in the labor room
The patient stated that she had been admitted to the hospital for the purpose of childbirth. On Tuesday, she began having labor pains. She alleged that it was then that the doctors mistreated her stating that she is pretending the pain and is doing dramebazi
“After I was taken to the labour room, I had tremendous pain. But two doctors started slapping me and abusing me. They told me it was sheer ‘dramabazi’. I started feeling unwell and I was scared and traumatized after the incident,” she told Mirror
Mirror reports that her family protested outside the hospital and staged a dharna against the doctors of the hospital, demanding their arrest. The local police had to cordon off the area in order to calm the situation
The family of the patient have filed a written complaint with the MS of the hospital, while also lodging an FIR against the doctors
