Lok Sabha speaker dedicates radiotherapy machine in Mongolia
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who is leading a parliamentary delegation to Mongolia, inaugurated operationalisation of the BHABHATRON II radiotherapy machine donated by India for cancer treatment, an official statement said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahajan hoped that this cutting-edge technology would serve the needy in Mongolia, which would further consolidate the already healthy and warm relationship between the two countries, said a Lok Sabha statement.
The machine, installed in National Cancer Centre of Mongolia in capital Ulan Bator, has been indigenously developed by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). Having efficient performance parameters and improved user interface, its lower power consumption and battery back-up makes it suitable for rural and far-flung areas, it said.
During his visit to Mongolia in May 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced various initiatives for promotion of Indo-Mongolian relations.
