Mumbai: A government medical officer and his aide were nabbed by the ACB Sunday in Maharashtra's Parbhani district for allegedly accepting Rs 8000 in bribe for conducting surgery on an elderly woman, an official said.

Dr Gajanan Kale, the Medical Officer with the Parbhani district hospital, had allegedly demanded the money to insert a rod in one of the leg's of the woman who had met with an accident, the Anti-Corruption Bureau official said.

Consequently, the son of the woman approached the local ACB unit in Parbhani, around 500 kms from here, following which a trap was set.

The official said Dr Kale, who is an MS in Orthopaedics, asked the complainant to hand over the money to his aide Pandurnag Dukre (27), a private person when the ACB team nabbed them this morning.

Further investigation is underway.
