Man posing as AIIMS Doctor on Facebook dupes DU law student of Rs 30 lakh
Bhopal: A 25-year-old man has been arrested by the Crime Branch for allegedly posing as a doctor attached to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and duping Rs 30 lakh from a DU law student by using the fake identity. The two reportedly met via Facebook.
According to recent media reports, the accused made his fake Facebook ID using the name of his cousin and came in contact with the student in the year 2012. He posted a picture of a different man on the account. The accused reportedly portrayed himself as a doctor in the most prestigious and known hospital in the country, AIIMS. Later, they exchanged their contact numbers and started talking over the phone.
In 2017, the man borrowed Rs 30 lakh from the girl who is the daughter of a businessman in Delhi. He allegedly blackmailed the girl emotionally citing that his mother is very sick and he has to take her to a hospital in London for treatment. She transferred the money to his account.

The accused even convinced the student that his family is ready for their marriage. He once talked to her by using the voice changing application which enabled his voice change into a female one over the phone, reports Bhopal Samachar.
The matter came in light when his cousin, whose profile he used for cheating the victim, uploaded his picture online for the marriage purpose. When she asked the accused about it, he stopped picking up her phone calls. After the incident, the girl slipped into the depression. She then filed a complaint with the crime branch of Bhopal who immediately started the investigation.
When the police investigated the matter, the accused was identified as an unemployed engineer.
"After going through the bank account details of the accused, we have found that there is a lot of online cash transfer into his account from various other accounts. These transactions are being checked and efforts are one to find if he has duped other people," a police officer informed India Today.
