MCI Gazette lays down time Schedule for Medical colleges applying for PG Medical courses

New Delhi: Through a recent gazette notification, the apex medical regulator (Medical Council of India, MCI) has laid down the process as well as time schedule of applications for opening of postgraduate (broad speciality and super-speciality courses) courses/increase of admission capacity as well as their processing by the MCI Board of Governors.

The notification comes in the form of an amendment to The Opening of a New or Higher Course of Study or Training (including Post-graduate Course of Study or Training) and Increase of Admission Capacity in any Course of Study or Training (including a Postgraduate Course of Study or Training) Regulations, 2000.

Firstly the notifications spell out that as long as the MCI BOG are in office, all such applications have to be made to the MCI Board of Governors.

“Provided that while the Board of Governors in super-session of Medical Council of India are in office the applications shall be submitted to the Secretary-General, Board of Governors in Super- Session of Medical Council of India from Pocket 14, Sector – 8, Dwarka, New Delhi – 110077 and shall be processed in accordance with time schedule annexed to these regulations.”

The Gazette then lays down the respective time schedule for the process of application by the medical colleges as well as

8.	Issuance of Conditional Letter of Permission /Disapproval	31^st January
9.	Submission of Bank Guarantee	15^th February
10.	Issuance of Letter of Permission by the Board of Governors in supersession of the Medical Council of India	28^th /29^{th of}February
