Medical education in Tamil Nadu is set to get costlier as the MBBS fees in the self-financing medical colleges have been revised from academic year 2025. The fee fixation committee has fixed the MBBS fee for management quota seats at the self-financing medical colleges at Rs 15 lakh per year- a hike of Rs 1.5 lakh.
According to the revised fee structure released by the TN Directorate of Medical Education, the MBBS fees for the NRI quota seats will also get hiked by Rs 2.5 lakh as now the MBBS fees at the NRI quota seats have been fixed at Rs 27 lakh per annum.
However, the fees for the government quota seats at the private medical institutes will remain unchanged. Meanwhile, those joining the State private universities under the NRI quota will have to pay Rs 30 lakh, which is Rs 60,000 more when compared to previous years. The MBBS fees under the management quota seats at these institutes has been fixed at Rs 16,20,000 per annum.
