No medical negligence: Medanta Hospital and cardiologist granted Rs 2.78 crore in Relief
The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) recently reiterated the Supreme Court's observations that while an action for negligence can certainly be maintained, there should be no harassment of doctors merely because their treatment was unsuccessful. With this observation, the Apex Consumer Court exonerated Medanta Hospital and its Cardiologist from the allegations of medical negligence during Pacemaker Implantation.
The history of the case goes back to 2016 when the patient was admitted at Medanta, The Medicity for planned and Elective Procedure of Pacemaker implantation. A detailed examination was conducted. However, the doctor and duty nurse did not find any abnormality in the patient.

Violence at GMC Agartala: Doctor assaulted by attendants, one arrested
In another incident of violence against doctors, a doctor at GMC Agartala's GB Pant Hospital in Tripura was allegedly assaulted and verbally abused by a group of youths, who were the attendants of a patient. The doctor suffered injuries to his head and photographs of the doctor's head, drenched in blood from a severe cut were circulating on social media platforms.
While the doctor suffered injuries in the attack, he is now out of danger, informed the National Chairman of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), Dr. Rohan Krishnan.

56 confirmed deaths from heat stroke in India over last 3 months, Health Ministry records
India has experienced a significant number of heat-related deaths, with 56 fatalities reported from 24,849 suspected cases of heat stroke between March and May, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.
Of these, 46 deaths occurred in May alone. The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded 19,189 suspected heat stroke cases between May 1 and 30. Notably, the data excludes fatalities from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Delhi, suggesting that the actual numbers could be higher.
Study reveals potential risks of muscle-building supplement use in adolescents and young adults
A recent study conducted by the University of Toronto sheds light on the prevalence and influencing factors of muscle-building supplement use among adolescents and young adults.
Published in the journal Performance Enhancement & Health, the research involved 912 participants and provided valuable insights into the landscape of supplement consumption.
