In a recent judgment, the Madras High Court bench directed the State Government to appoint eligible Professors specializing in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Surgery, and Orthopaedics to the post of Dean in Government Medical Colleges.
The Court noted that the promotions of such doctors were delayed because of a Court order and the imposition of a Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in light of the 2019 general elections.

Alleging major violations in the medical college faculty recruitment norms, the doctors have urged the National Medical Commission (NMC) to take action in this regard.
The doctors under the United Doctors' Front (UDF) have highlighted several violations of faculty recruitment and promotion norms including the issue of wrongful consideration of teaching experience during PhD tenure and illegal appointment of part-time PhD holders as medical faculties.

Around 3 months after two Rajkot-based hospital had been suspended from the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) scheme, the Health Department of Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has now taken similar action against Shanti Multispecialty Hospital in Rajkot for multiple irregulaties.
The Department has suspended the hospital from the PMJAY scheme for six months and imposed a fine of Rs 23 lakh on the hospital, TOI has reported.

Lured by promises of high returns on small investments, two Meerut doctors ended up losing a staggering amount of over Rs 3.5 crore after investing in a fraudulent English company allegedly involved in film production and promotion that claimed to be operational since 1974.
Among the two doctors, one of them, identified as Suraksha Bansal lost Rs 3.8 crore, while the other doctor, Atul Gupta, lost Rs 49.17 lakh. Both doctors filed complaints with the police, submitting evidence of the fraudulent transactions.
