In another case of violence against medical professionals, on-duty doctors including a female postgraduate trainee doctor were allegedly threatened and abused by a friend of a patient at RG Kar Medical College Hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday.
According to police sources, a complaint was lodged on Wednesday afternoon by a doctor at RG Kar Hospital against a person who came with his relative to the hospital’s trauma unit for treatment, news agency PTI reported.
The Chhattisgarh High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of alleged medical negligence incident reported at a government medical facility in the State, where a father struggled to get medical attention for his severely injured son.
Officials from the Special Police Establishment (SPE) Lokayukta police in Rewa arrested a medical officer from Umaria district for accepting a bribe to send the postmortem report of a drowned individual to the police. According to the Superintendent of Police, the officer was caught taking Rs 3,000, the second instalment of a total bribe of Rs 10,000 he had demanded.
Nationwide team of 25 doctors draft Guidelines defining "Terminal Illness" as "Irreversible or Incurable Condition"
The Union Health Ministry has introduced new guidelines titled "Guidelines for Withdrawal of Life Support in Terminally Ill Patients," developed through collaborative efforts by 25 doctors from across India. These guidelines define "terminal illness" as an "irreversible or incurable condition from which death is inevitable in the foreseeable future."
