Nair hospital dean transferred to cooper hospital amid MBBS student sexual harassment case
In response to multiple sexual harassment complaints filed by medical students against now suspended association professor, the dean of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's Nair Hospital, Dr Sudhir Medhekar has been transferred to RN Cooper Hospital for allegedly failing to take timely action against the accused professor.
This comes after Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took serious cognizance of the matter and directed BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani to immediately transfer the dean of B.Y.L. Nair Hospital and Medical College.

RG Kar Hospital incident: On-duty doctors threatened by patient's friend

In another case of violence against medical professionals, on-duty doctors including a female postgraduate trainee doctor were allegedly threatened and abused by a friend of a patient at RG Kar Medical College Hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday.

According to police sources, a complaint was lodged on Wednesday afternoon by a doctor at RG Kar Hospital against a person who came with his relative to the hospital’s trauma unit for treatment, news agency PTI reported.

Chhattisgarh HC takes suo motu action over alleged medical negligence after patient denied care

The Chhattisgarh High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of alleged medical negligence incident reported at a government medical facility in the State, where a father struggled to get medical attention for his severely injured son.

Allegedly, the medical facility did not have any doctors and therefore, the patient was referred to the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS). The incident was reported in a local newspaper Haribhoomi Newspaper, Bilaspur.

MP medical officer arrested for taking bribe to release PM report of drowned man

Officials from the Special Police Establishment (SPE) Lokayukta police in Rewa arrested a medical officer from Umaria district for accepting a bribe to send the postmortem report of a drowned individual to the police. According to the Superintendent of Police, the officer was caught taking Rs 3,000, the second instalment of a total bribe of Rs 10,000 he had demanded.

The complaint was filed by a relative of the drowned man, who reported that the officer had allegedly requested the bribe to expedite the autopsy report, allowing the family to apply for compensation.


Nationwide team of 25 doctors draft Guidelines defining "Terminal Illness" as "Irreversible or Incurable Condition"

The Union Health Ministry has introduced new guidelines titled "Guidelines for Withdrawal of Life Support in Terminally Ill Patients," developed through collaborative efforts by 25 doctors from across India. These guidelines define "terminal illness" as an "irreversible or incurable condition from which death is inevitable in the foreseeable future."

Speaking with ANI, Dr Sushma Bhatnagar, Chief IRCH Cancer, AIIMS, Delhi said that it is not active or passive euthanasia, rather, "it's a way of giving treatment when the end is inevitable."
