Doctor can refuse to treat patient if pre-indicated fees not paid: NMC draft guidelines
Except in emergency situations, a doctor can refuse to continue to treat a patient if the pre-indicated fees as informed by the doctor to the patient are not paid. A clause to this effect has been included in the recent draft National Medical Commission Registered Medical Practitioner (Professional Conduct) Regulations, 2022.
The draft guidelines lay down the model code of conduct that is expected out of each doctor practicing in India and registered with the National Medical Commission (NMC).

ICMR, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases invites applications for clinical research fellowship programme, MD, MS medicos can apply
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)/Department of Health Research (DHR) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)/ National Institutes of Health (NIH), in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), have teamed up to provide a opportunity through Clinical Research fellowship.
MD, MS medicos can apply for the fellowship by July 1st 2022. Earlier, the last date of application was June 1st.

Medical degree certificate not marketable commodity, cannot be withheld for unfulfilled bond terms: HC
Providing relief to around 25 PG doctors, whose original certificates had been retained by the medical colleges on the ground that they had not completed their bond terms, the Madras High Court bench has recently clarified that unfulfilled bond conditions cannot be the sole ground for withholding original education certificates of students.
Therefore, issuing a direction to the medical colleges and the State Directorate of Medical Education to return back the documents, the bench comprising of Justice GR Swaminathan noted, "It is well settled that an Educational certificate is not a marketable commodity, therefore, there cannot be exercise of any lien in terms of Section 171 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872. It has been held in catena of cases that management cannot retain the certificates of the students."

2nd doctor arrested in delhi kidney transplant racket, this time a Delhi based surgeon
While probing the illegal kidney racket case, another suspect has been arrested by the Delhi police. The accused has been identified as 34-year-old Dr Priyansh Sharma alias Sameer.
Sameer is the second doctor arrested in connection with the case. He is a Delhi based surgeon and associated with one of a reputed hospital here. While investigating the case, police found Sameer's relation with the main accused identified as Kuldeep Ray Vishwakarma. Kuldeep had 20 years of experience as an OT technician. Ray was paid Rs 1 lakh per transplant.
