NEET PG Cutoff Row: Centre forms 12-member Panel to Audit Admission System
In a latest update in the ongoing petition challenging the drastic reduction in the NEET PG 2025 qualifying cut-off, the Union Government has informed the Supreme Court that it has constituted a 12-member Expert Committee under the chairmanship of the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) to comprehensively review the PG admission system and recommend reforms.
The development came during the hearing of a batch of petitions, including one filed by the United Doctors' Front (UDF), challenging the government's decision to sharply reduce the qualifying percentile for NEET-PG 2025-26.

NBE Forms Expert Panel in FMGE June 2026 Row, Answer Key to be Released After Review
In the latest update on the ongoing agitation by foreign medical graduates over alleged irregularities during the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) June 2026, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has constituted an independent three-member committee to examine all the issues raised by the candidates.
This comes after the medicos held a protest at the Jantar Mantar on August 3, 2026, which was called by All FMGs Association (AFA) and All India Medical Students' Association - Foreign Medical Students' Wing (AIMSA-FMSW). During the protest, the representatives of both the associations met NBEMS officials to discuss the matter after being invited by the Board.

Rs 1.5 Crore Medical Reimbursement Scam: CBI Books Private Hospital, Railway Officials
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against the directors and officials of a private hospital in Jodhpur, along with unidentified Railway officials, for allegedly causing a loss of around Rs 1.5 crore to the Indian Railways by submitting inflated and fabricated medical reimbursement claims.
The case pertains to alleged irregularities in reimbursement claims submitted between 2022 and 2024 under a cashless treatment scheme for railway employees. According to the CBI, the alleged fraud involved manipulated medical records, inflated bills and false claims for treatments and medicines that were never provided.

World's First Patient Receives Immune Cell Therapy for Cancer Treatment
A new type of cancer treatment has been tested in a patient for the first time anywhere in the world. Doctors gave 58-year-old Tracy Tomlinson, who has advanced ovarian cancer, an experimental immune cell therapy called ZI-MA4-1 as part of a Phase 1 clinical trial at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester, UK. Tracy joined the study after her cancer returned despite several surgeries and chemotherapy treatments. Unlike chemotherapy, which kills both cancer cells and some healthy cells, ZI-MA4-1 uses specially modified Natural Killer (NK) immune cells to find and destroy cancer cells carrying a protein called MAGE-A4, while causing less harm to healthy tissues. Researchers are currently studying whether the treatment is safe and what dose works best.
One of the biggest advantages of ZI-MA4-1 is that it is an "off-the-shelf" treatment. This means the immune cells come from healthy donors and are prepared and stored in advance, instead of being made separately for each patient. Researchers believe this could help patients start treatment faster, lower costs and make advanced cancer therapies available to more people. The trial includes patients with ovarian, lung, head and neck cancers, as well as certain bone and soft tissue cancers that have the MAGE-A4 protein. Although the treatment is still in the early stages of testing and may take years before it becomes widely available, the first successful use of this therapy is an important step forward in cancer treatment, according to an NDTV report.
