NEET UG Counselling 2026: MCC Removes Round 1 Choice Filling Notice After Announcement
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) briefly issued a notice stating that Round 1 choice filling for NEET UG Counselling 2026 had been postponed. According to the now-withdrawn notice, the process, originally scheduled to begin on August 6, was to start at 12 noon on August 8. The committee said the decision was linked to a National Medical Commission (NMC) notification regarding revised assessment guidelines for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates seeking MBBS admission. The addendum updated provisions issued on July 27 to align with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities' memorandum. However, the notice was later removed from the MCC website without any explanation, creating confusion among candidates awaiting the counselling process.
As of now, MCC has not issued any fresh clarification regarding the postponement, and the original counselling schedule remains uncertain. Candidates have been advised to regularly monitor the official MCC website for updated notifications. During the choice filling process, eligible candidates select and arrange their preferred medical and dental colleges and courses in order of preference. Seat allotment is then carried out based on NEET UG rank, reservation category, seat availability and the preferences submitted by candidates. Applicants can modify and lock their choices before the specified deadline, according to TOI report.
MCC Revises NEET SS 2025 Round 2 Counselling Schedule After Delhi HC Order
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), has revised the schedule for Round 2 of All India NEET SS Counselling 2025 after the Delhi High Court allowed petitioner candidates to re-register and participate in the counselling.
In view of the court's directions, MCC has withdrawn its earlier notification and announced a fresh timeline for Round 2 registration, choice filling and seat allotment.

NMC Permits Temporary UDID for PwBD Quota Candidates in MBBS Admissions 2026
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued an addendum to its recently released Guidelines on Assessment of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) for Admission to the MBBS Course, 2026, clarifying that eligible candidates will not be denied admission under the PwBD quota solely because they hold a temporary Unique Disability Identity (UDID) Card or temporary Disability Certificate.
The clarification, issued on August 5, 2026, comes after the NMC's July 27 notification, which stated that every candidate applying under the PwBD category must have a valid Permanent UDID Card.

HC Upholds Haryana's 40 Per cent Reservation Policy for In-Service MD, MS Admissions
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has upheld the Haryana Government's September 2024 policy allowing all in-service government doctors to apply for admission to MD/MS courses under the 40 percent in-service quota, even if they have not completed two years of service in rural or remote areas.
Dismissing the challenge to the policy, the High Court said the State has the authority to create a separate admission channel for in-service doctors and decide the eligibility conditions for such admissions.
