The National Medical Commission (NMC) has revoked the permission to Vaishno Devi Medical College for MBBS course.
The assessment and rating board of the apex medical commission noted non-compliance to minimum standards for MBBS education at the institute. With this, the order issued by the board called for the transfer of students admitted this year to other medical colleges in the state.

UP NEET PG 2025 Round 3 Counselling Postponed on MCC Directions
The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, UPDGME, Uttar Pradesh, has issued an important notice announcing that the third round of UP National Eligibility and Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) counselling for the academic year 2025-2026 for MD, MS, PG Diploma and DNB courses has been kept on hold until further instructions.
According to the official notice issued on the UP DGME website, the decision has been taken following directions from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), New Delhi. The MCC informed that counselling under the third round of NEET PG 2025 at the All India level has not yet commenced, and therefore, the corresponding state counselling process will remain suspended for the time being.

Karnataka to Introduce Labour Analgesia in Govt Hospitals to Reduce C-Sections
The Karnataka health department is planning to introduce labour analgesia options in government hospitals to curb the rising C-section delivery rates, which currently account for nearly 47 per cent of institutional deliveries, officials said.
The initiative aims to reduce fear of pain during childbirth, encouraging more women to opt for natural deliveries and lowering the risks associated with surgical births, including maternal mortality. The proposed pain-management options include epidural injections and nitrous oxide.

Wayanad Hospital Under Probe After Cotton Cloth Found Inside Patient Post C-Section
A shocking medical negligence allegation has emerged at the Mananthavady Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) in Wayanad after a 21-year-old woman claimed that a piece of cotton cloth was found inside her body more than two months after her cesarean delivery.
In response to the allegation, the District Medical Officer (DMO), Wayanad, has ordered an investigation into the incident. The inquiry was initiated after the woman approached Kerala Minister O.R. Kelu, alleging serious lapses in the treatment she received at the government hospital.
