NMC asks medical colleges to verify their NEET PG, SS seats and courses, gives deadline

Seeking validation of data pertaining to the number of seats and courses being offered at their institutes for registration of additional qualifications as well as NEET PG and SS admissions, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed all medical colleges to verify the same. The institutions can also intimate the NMC to rectify the information if discrepancies are found in the said data.

The apex medical regulator has given a 15-day deadline to the medical institutes to provide confirmation, the same will end on July 22.

Relief to Anesthetist after 25 years: NCDRC holds death of patient post surgery not conclusive proof of negligence

Holding that simply the death of a patient is not a conclusive proof of medical negligence, the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) bench recently exonerated Rajasthan Hospital and its Anesthetist from charges of negligence after around 25 years.

Although the Complainant had claimed that the patient, who had been operated for intestinal obstruction, had suffered cardiac arrest because of the overdose of anesthesia by Dr Gauri Punjabi, the top consumer court clarified, "Simply because the patient died after a surgery is not a conclusive proof of alleged negligence."

IT raids at Pharma co's premises in Delhi-Haryana, Rs 25 crore of hawala cash receipts recovered

Income Tax Department has conducted searches on pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors in Haryana and Delhi-NCR and claimed to have seized cash of Rs 4.2 crore and jewellery or bullion worth Rs 4 crore, an official statement said on Friday.

The search and seizure operations, conducted on June 29, 2022, on a group engaged in the business of manufacturing and distribution of pharmaceutical medicines and real estate development, covered 25 premises in Delhi-NCR and Haryana.
