NMC fined Rs 10 lakh by SC in medical college approval matter
Criticising the National Medical Commission (NMC) for raising a challenge to grant of approval for the expansion of a medical college, the Supreme Court recently slapped a cost of Rs 10 lakh on the Commission.
Opining that NMC should act in a reasonable manner, the Apex Court bench comprising Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan observed, "Prima facie, we find that the attitude of the NMC is not of a model litigant. The NMC is an organ of the State and is expected to act in a fair and reasonable manner."

Former RG Kar Principal Sandip Ghosh Accused of Sexual Assault of Hong Kong Nursing Student in 2017
Former RG Kar Medical College Principal Sandip Ghosh, already under scrutiny as the prime suspect in a PG trainee's alleged rape and murder case and facing multiple corruption allegations, is now embroiled in another controversy. This involves allegations from seven years ago, when he was accused of sexually assaulting a male nursing student in Hong Kong.
Sandip Ghosh who is now in judicial custody after being arrested by CBI for alleged corruption during his tenure at the RG Kar Hospital was previously accused of sexual misconduct during a two-month clinical exchange programme at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kowloon in Hong Kong in 2017, according to a report by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) which mentioned Ghosh as 'Indian Doctor'.

New Waiting Rooms to be introduced at LNJP Hospital, Delhi
In a move aimed at enhancing patient care, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj announced the construction of dedicated waiting rooms for patients' attendants at Lok Nayak Hospital (LNJP) on Tuesday. This development follows a surprise inspection by the minister, who identified the need for these facilities during his visit.
During a surprise inspection of the hospital, Bhardwaj was informed of the need for dedicated waiting rooms for patients' attendants. He noted that these rooms could be constructed adjacent to each ward. The minister assured the hospital administration that the construction process would begin soon. The new waiting rooms will be designed to provide a comfortable and functional space for attendants, enhancing their overall experience while supporting patients.

MCC informs NEET, NEET PG candidates- Can't change category, approach NTA, NBE
Through a notice, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has informed that it cannot change or edit the category of National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Undergraduate and Postgraduate (NEET UG) and (NEET PG) 2024 candidates.
As per the notice, MCC has received some representations from various candidates regarding the change in their category. On this, through the notice MCC has informed the candidates that “the details of candidates are pre-populated in the Registration form as per the data provided by NTA/NBE in a non-editable format. Thus, MCC of DGHS cannot change or edit category of any candidate”.
