NMC Proposes Draft Framework for accreditation, ranking of Medical Colleges- 11 Criteria, 78 Parameters
New Delhi: Specifying that the National Medical Commission (NMC) intends to carry out accreditation and rating of all medical colleges regulated by the Commission through an independent third-party agency, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the Commission recently released the Draft Framework for Accreditation and Ranking of Medical Colleges.
The Draft framework comprises a total of 11 criteria and 78 parameters. Placing it in the public domain, NMC requested all the stakeholders to submit their comments/suggestions, through an online form, within 21 days from the date of publication of the notice.

37-year-old dies post hair transplant surgery in Kanpur, MBBS doctor booked for negligence
Kanpur: A female MBBS doctor at a private clinic in Kanpur has been booked for causing death due to negligence after the death of a 37-year-old Assistant Engineer, who reportedly underwent a botched hair transplant surgery.
According to a report by Jagran, the deceased patient's wife, who filed the complaint that led to the registration of an FIR against the doctor. In her statement, she alleged that the doctor confessed to an error during the hair transplant procedure and that proper post-operative care was not provided.

Fake fingerprints in Biometric Attendance: NMC Reveals NO data on defaulter medical colleges, 1 found guilty
New Delhi: In response to a Right to Information (RTI) application, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has revealed that one medical college was found guilty of using fake fingerprints in AEBAS biometric system.
As per NMC's response to the RTI filed by Dr. Lakshya Mittal, the National President of the United Doctors' Front (UDF), only Rawatpura Sarkar Institute, Chhattisgarh, was found using fake fingerprints in the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS).

Doctors seek AIIMS INI CET Exam Postponement Amid Blackouts, Flight suspensions
New Delhi: Even though India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire, the tension between these two neighbouring countries is yet to end. Amid this, doctors have urged the authorities to postpone the INICET July 2025 examination, which is scheduled for May 17, 2025. They pointed out that considering the current situation in Srinagar, nationwide disruptions, including the widespread blackouts and flight suspensions, appearing in the exam could be potentially risky for the candidates.
Dr. Lakshya Mittal, the National President of the United Doctors' Front (UDF), who recently wrote to the Director of AIIMS urging to postpone the upcoming INI-CET PG and INI-SS scheduled on 17th and 24th May respectively, expressed his disappointment over the fact that instead of addressing the concerns of the candidates, the authorities have now released the admit card.
