Patient dies post hair transplant surgery, Kanpur MBBS doctor booked for negligence

Medical Negligence
Kanpur: A female MBBS doctor at a private clinic in Kanpur has been booked for causing death due to negligence after the death of a 37-year-old Assistant Engineer, who reportedly underwent a botched hair transplant surgery.
According to a report by Jagran, the deceased patient's wife, who filed the complaint that led to the registration of an FIR against the doctor. In her statement, she alleged that the doctor confessed to an error during the hair transplant procedure and that proper post-operative care was not provided.

It has been reported that although the incident occurred in March, police took action 54 days after the engineer’s death. An FIR was registered against the doctor on Saturday under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to negligence resulting in death.
The deceased, Vineet Kumar Dubey, was an Assistant Engineer at Panki Power Plant. He lived in Officers Colony, Panki, with his wife Jaya Tripathi and their two children. Originally from Gorakhpur, Vineet contacted Dr *** for a hair transplant on March 13 and reached her clinic in Kalyanpur that day. The procedure was carried out the same day.
His wife Jaya, who had gone to her maternal home in Gonda with the children, said she received a call on the morning of March 14 from an unknown number. The caller informed her that Vineet had facial swelling and he was being taken to Anurag Hospital. The call was then disconnected, and the phone was switched off when she tried to call back, reports Jagran.
Around 11 am, she tried to contact the hair transplant doctor, but her phone was also switched off. She then asked her uncle in Kanpur to check on Vineet in the hospital. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to Regency Hospital. Sadly, he died during treatment on March 15.
ACP Abhishek Pandey said the police have recorded the statement of the person who introduced the deceased to the doctor. He added that despite being called for questioning, the doctor did not appear. Further investigation is underway.
