Gujarat to provide 10 % reservation to in-service doctors in 10 PG specialities
Bringing good news to the in-service doctors of the State, the Gujarat Government has decided to provide a 10% reservation in postgraduate medical courses to in-service doctors employed at several district and taluka health centers.
The confirmation regarding this came after the State Health Department notified about this on Tuesday and also clarified the rules for the implementation of this reservation policy, reports TOI.

NEET 2021 counselling: MCC finally releases counselling schedule
Ending all suspense for MBBS aspirants, the Medical Counselling Committee has finally released the NEET 2021 AIQ counselling schedule.
The counselling for MBBS/ BDS/ B.SC NURSING for NEET 15% AIQ and 100% Deemed/Central Universities/ESIC/ AFMS( registration only) and AIIMS/JIPMER will begin in the next few days with Round 1 Verification of Seat Matrix on 17th and 18th January.

Routine, elective surgeries suspended at LNJP, GTB hospitals amid rise in COVID-19 cases
The Delhi government has suspended routine and elective surgeries at the LNJP and the GTB hospitals to deal with the surging coronavirus cases in the national capital, officials said. Delhi on Thursday reported 28,867 COVID-19 cases, the sharpest single-day spike since the pandemic began, and 31 deaths, while the positivity rate surged to 29.21 per cent, according to health department data.
Delhi's previous biggest daily jump of 28,395 cases was recorded on April 20 last year.

Covishield 3rd dose increases antibody response against Omicron, says study
A third dose of AstraZeneca's Covid vaccine, named Covishield in India, increases antibody response to the new vaccine-evading Omicron variant, according to a new trial published by the British-Swedish drugmaker on Thursday.
The trial showed the third dose booster also increases the immune response to Beta, Delta, Alpha, and Gamma SARS-CoV-2 variants.
The results of both were observed among individuals previously vaccinated with either AstraZeneca, Vaxzevria in the UK, or an mRNA vaccine.
