Medical College Should be Welfare State: Gujarat HC over Bond Amount Dispute

Observing that a medical college, being a welfare state, should rise over petty dispute, the Gujarat High Court bench comprising of Chief Justice Aravind Kumar slammed the GMERS Himmatnagar for withholding the documents of a student over non-payment of the bond amount.

The father of the student had appealed for the interference of the court after the essential documents of the student were withheld by the institute as the student had neither served in the rural areas nor paid the bond amount to the college.

First Private Medical College in Jharkhand gets NMC nod for 100 MBBS seats

With the nod from National Medical Commission (NMC) for MBBS admissions at Laxmi Chandravanshi Medical College and Hospital (LCMCH), Jharkhand has been gifted with its first private medical college.

Bringing good news to the medical aspirants of the State, the institute has received the nod from NMC, the apex medical education regulatory body, for 100 MBBS seats.

Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences MBBS first year Exam Pattern: High Court reserves order

While considering a plea challenging the first-year MBBS exam pattern of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), the Telangana High Court bench comprising of Justice B Vijaysen Reddy reserved his orders on Monday.

Complaining that the University didn't follow the inclusion of 20 percent multiple choice questions (MCQs) as per the National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines, the students have sought a second supplementary examination.

Dr Reddys open to making Pfizer COVID pill after deal with Merck

Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, one of a handful of Indian drug companies licensed to make a new COVID-19 pill developed by Merck, said on Monday it was open to making a similar pill from Pfizer, thought to be even more effective.

The new drugs, which unlike vaccines can be used to treat patients once they contract coronavirus infection, are expected to be a huge market. Merck has given out licenses to manufacturers in developing countries to ensure a swift global supply, and companies are hopeful that Pfizer will do the same.

Treating Zika patients made mandatory for Lucknow hospitals

In order to handle the increasing number of Zika cases in the city, the Lucknow district administration has mandated for all hospitals in the state capital to treat those infected with the virus.

Confirmation to this effect was given by the Lucknow District Magistrate's office after a meeting was held chaired by the district magistrate Abhishek Prakash on Monday.
