MCC warns NEET PG, MDS candidates against fake admission form circulating on social media

Through a recent notice, the Medical Counselling Committee has warned the NEET PG and MDS aspirants regarding a fake application-cum-admission form for postgraduate medical and dental courses in 50% government quota seats.

The concerned form, which is circulating on social media, claimed that the seats will be allotted on the basis of nomination by payment of fees under nominated/state quota.

MBBS with 6 months of ultrasound training cannot call themselves Sonologists: NMC

MBBS doctors even with six months of certificate training in Ultrasonology cannot call themselves 'Consultant Sonologist', reiterated the National Medical Commission (NMC) in the recently released E-Book "Professional Conduct Review- Lessons from Case Archives".

Taking a cue from a previous case, the Apex Medical Commission pointed to a broader implication that a physician should not claim to be a specialist and do speciality practice unless he/she has a special qualification in that branch.

Khattar lays foundation stone of Rs 950 crore medical college in Kaithal

With an aim to meeting the target of establishing medical colleges in each district, the Haryana CM laid the foundation stone of Bhagwan Parshuram Government Medical College in Sampan Khedi village, in Kaithal district.

The Bhagwan Parshuram Government Medical College, which is to be constructed in the village of Sampan Khedi at an estimated cost of Rs 950 crore on a 20-acre land, will have 100 MBBS seats and a 500-bed hospital. A target has been set to complete the construction work of this project in the next 30 months.

FDA plans to issue a ban on hair-straightening products

The FDA is contemplating banning specific chemical hair straighteners because of concerns about their associated health risks. This is of particular concern for Black women, who frequently use these products to straighten their hair. Many of these hair straighteners contain formaldehyde or related chemicals, which have been linked to both short-term and long-term health issues. In the short term, these chemicals can irritate the respiratory tract, leading to coughing and wheezing, as well as cause skin and eye irritation. Long-term effects are even more serious, with studies showing an increased risk of hormone-related cancers, including breast, ovarian, and uterine cancer, among users.

Eyesight loss after premature delivery: Doctors, LLRM Medical College exonerated

The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) recently exonerated Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College and two of its doctors in the Pediatrics Department from charges of medical negligence while treating a newborn baby, who lost her eyesight.

Although the complainants alleged that the doctors did not refer the child for Retinopathy or premature screening which ultimately resulted in her loss of eyesight, the top consumer court noted that proper advice was given in the Discharge Slip.
