NMC releases NEET PG 2025 counselling schedule for AIQ, State quota seats
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has officially notified the NEET PG counselling schedule for the academic year 2025 for both All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota seats.
The MCC has issued the schedule, which has now been reiterated by the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of NMC to ensure uniformity and coordination between central and state-level counselling processes.

Health Ministry warns doctors of disciplinary action for non-compliance with NMC’s generic prescription norms
Doctors have been directed to comply with the provisions issued by the erstwhile Medical Council of India (MCI), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and other authorities on prescribing generic names of the drugs in legible handwriting, the Union Minister of State for Health, Smt Anupriya Patel informed the Rajya Sabha recently.
Parliament member Shri Shaktisinh Gohil had sought details from the Health Ministry regarding the initiatives taken by NMC and EMRB to ensure compliance with Regulation 1.5 of the Medical Council of India (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002. Further, he questioned whether failure to prescribe medicines by their generic names amounts to professional misconduct, the reasons for rampant violations nationwide even after 23 years, the details of circulars, directions, or advisories issued, and the number of RMPs found guilty and the disciplinary action taken.

Odisha HC seeks state’s reply on sudden MBBS, BDS fee revision
While considering a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the last-minute revision in the MBBS and BDS fee structure for the academic year 2025-2026, the Orissa High Court sought a response from the State Government.
Filed by Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha and represented by its president, Basudeb Bhatta, the PIL alleged that the move has affected meritorious students from economically weaker sections.

Eighteen of twenty-two AIIMS now fully operational, MoS Health tells Parliament
Out of the 22 All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) approved across the country, 18 are currently functional, while 4 are at different stages of construction, according to the information shared by Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, in the parliament.
The four AIIMS that are currently not functional are AIIMS Darbhanga in Bihar, where pre-investment work is underway; AIIMS Majra (Rewari) in Haryana; AIIMS Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir; and AIIMS Madurai in Tamil Nadu. Of these, three institutes are still under construction.
