NCDRC holds no medical negligence, relief of Rs 17 lakh to orthopaedic surgeon, nursing home
The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) recently exonerated a Bengal based Orthopaedic Surgeon and Nursing home from charges of medical negligence while treating the femur fracture of a patient.
Previously District Consumer Court, Hooghly and the State Consumer Court had held the doctor and the clinic guilty of medical negligence while providing treatment to the patient, who ultimately died undergoing treatment at CMC Vellore. They had been told to pay Rs 17, 91,000 as compensation to the wife and children of the deceased patient.

One of the major changes that are aimed to draw the attention of medical practitioners is the special DO NOT USE in COVID-19 Section that lists down various medicines including Lopinavir-ritonavir, HCQ, Ivermectin, Convalescent plasma, Molnupiravir, Favipiravir, Azithromycin, Doxycycline which are not be used for management of COVID-19

NMC gives permission for 89 new PG medical seats at Andhra medical college
In a major boost to the postgraduate medical education in Andhra Pradesh, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its permission for increasing the PG medical seats at Andhra Medical College by altogether 89 seats so far.
The principal of the medical college Dr G Butchi Raju has confirmed that the permission has so far been accorded for 89 seats including the 46 seats, for which NMC has given permission this month.

Rajasthan: Doctors strike against government's proposed Right to Health Bill
In protest against the Rajasthan government's proposed Right to Health Bill, Doctors and operators of private hospitals will march towards the state assembly today after the doctors went on a strike yesterday affecting around 300 private hospitals, clinics and nursing homes in Kota.
It has been reported that around 3,000 doctors from all districts of Rajasthan will march to the state assembly against the bill on Monday and that the movement had received support from many other organisations.
