Tamil Nadu NEET PG 2023 aspirants face trouble due to faraway test centres
The aspirants of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) examination from Tamil Nadu are facing troubles due to the far away test centres allotted to them for the examination scheduled for March 5, 2023.
Even though the National Board of Examinations (NBE), the body in charge of conducting NEET PG Examination, had earlier promised allotting test centres 'nearest' to Chennai, several aspirants were allotted centres in far away places such as Vijaywada (900 km) in Andhra Pradesh or in Nalgonda (550k) in Telangana, adds TOI.

Altogether 119 medicos committed suicide in last 5 years, 1166 left institutes: NMC reveals in RTI reply
In the last five years, altogether 119 medical students committed suicide and 1,166 students left medical colleges and institutes, the National Medical Commission (NMC) revealed while replying to a Right to Information (RTI) query.
Referring to the data submitted by 512 medical colleges in the country, the Apex medical education regulatory body, NMC has further revealed that 64 UG and 55 MD/MS students committed suicides in the last five years.

New NMC Regulations spell out harsher penalties for backdoor MBBS admissions in medical colleges
Introducing harsher penalties for backdoor entries in undergraduate medical admission, the National Medical Commission has now specified that medical colleges violating the norms for MBBS admission shall have to pay a huge fine ranging from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore per seat.
The amount of penalty will increase for any subsequent attempt and the medical college may also be barred from granting admission to students and double the seats shall be reduced for the violation, the apex medical commission has specified in the recently released Graduate Medical Education Regulations of Undergraduate Medical Education Board, 2023.

New NMC Regulations Spell Out Harsher Penalties For Backdoor MBBS Admissions In Medical Colleges
No more new MBBS seats in Tamil Nadu GMCs in 2023
This year, any more undergraduate medical seats will not be added to the government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu, the state Directorate of Medical Education has recently confirmed.
Even though the State is waiting for getting funds and permission for commencing six new medical colleges, no application has been submitted for increasing seats in the existing medical colleges, DME officials have informed TOI.
