NMC to modify MBBS curriculum to address issues on virginity tests, two finger tests

Introducing a major change, the apex medical regulator, National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided to teach the MBBS students about the unscientific, inhumane and discriminatory sides of virginity tests and two finger tests of female genitalia.

NMC, the Apex medical body, has also decided teaching medical students how to guide the courts, which often orders it in matrimonial suits, about the unscientific nature of the signs of virginity and the related tests.

Gap reduced for precautionary dose from 9 months to 6 months

Centre has reduced the gap for the administration of Covid vaccine booster doses from existing 9 months or 39 weeks to 6 months or 26 weeks.

The Union Health Ministry said that as per the recommendation, it has been decided all beneficiaries from 18-59 years will be administered the booster after completion of 6 months or 26 weeks from the date of administration of the 2nd dose.

64 percent Indians confident with two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, not interested in precautionary dose: Survey

YouGov's latest survey reveals the sentiments of urban Indians towards the booster dose of coronavirus. 

Many people who have had both doses of the vaccine are inclined to take the booster dose, but when considering those who do not wish to do so, a majority (64 per cent of respondents) tells that their confidence in the two doses of the vaccine is the most important factor for not wanting a precautionary dose. Close to one in five (19 per cent) stated that they are scared of the short-term side-effects like fever, etc while 17 percent are worried about the alleged long-term side effects of the vaccines (like heart attacks, medical complications, etc). Some doubt the effectiveness of the booster dose (15 percent) while others (13 percent) said they took the first dose of out compulsion (for travel, etc) but will now resist taking a booster dose for Covid.


Sion Hospital Deputy Dean, 2 others booked for allegedly duping medical student of Rs 21 lakh for PG seat

A case of cheating has been registered against the suspended deputy dean of Lokmanya Tilak Hospital, Rakesh Verma and two others by the Sion police for allegedly cheating a medical student of around Rs 21 lakh from Kolhapur, after promising him a seat at the post-graduation course (MD) in Sion hospital.

The police booked Dr Rakesh Verma, Aditya Kumar alias Anand Sharma and Dheeraj Tiwari for cheating on Saturday, reports the Times of India.
