Overview
In conversation with the Editor in Chief of the rank one Nephrology journal of the country, "Indian Journal of Nephrology" published by scientific scholar, Dr. Vivekanand Jha.
Dr. Vivekanand Jha is the Executive Director at The George Institute for Global Health, India, Professor and Chair of Global Kidney Health, Imperial College, London. He is also the Conjoint Professor of Medicine, University of New South Wales, Sydney as well as a Professor at the Prasanna school of Public Health, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, India. He has been the immediate Past President (2019 – 2021) of the International Society of Nephrology.
He speaks about how the discipline of Nephrology has developed in the country in the past decade and its major developments from the patient perspective, the key challenges for a practising nephrologist, both at the urban and rural setting in today’s time and how they can tackle the same. He answers to the state of cadaveric transplantation in India, why there is a waiting list for years and how it can be tackled.
He further emphasizes on how the journal, Indian Journal of Nephrology has contributed towards enhancing the state of art clinical approach of this discipline in the country. And lastly, as the Editor in Chief of this prestigious journal, what are his visions forward and a word of advice for upcoming young Nephrologists and scientists in this field.

Dr. Nandita Mohan

Dr. Nandita Mohan is a practicing pediatric dentist with more than 5 years of clinical work experience. Along with this, she is equally interested in keeping herself up to date about the latest developments in the field of medicine and dentistry which is the driving force for her to be in association with Medical Dialogues. She also has her name attached with many publications; both national and international. She has pursued her BDS from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and later went to enter her dream specialty (MDS) in the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry from Pt. Professor Vivekanand Jha is the Executive Director at The George Institute for Global Health, India, and the Chair of Global Kidney Health at Imperial College London. With a PhD, he served as the Immediate Past President of the International Society of Nephrology from 2019 to 2021. His research focuses on the global health impact of kidney diseases, particularly on developing affordable and scalable prevention strategies. Professor Jha has worked extensively with organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) to create clinical practice guidelines and advocacy papers. A prolific writer, editor, and global lecturer, he has made significant contributions to nephrology research and education worldwide.
