NBCC AIIMS ink MoU to develop phase II of trauma centre
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS has inked an MoU with the National Buildings Constructions Corporation Ltd (NBCC) to build the second phase of the existing trauma centre of the institution.
The construction of the centre, known as Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma centre, has been budgeted at Rs.3,000 crore.
Approximately 15 acres of land will be taken for the upcoming trauma centre that will have 2,250 beds and extended treatment facilities for digestive diseases, head and neck surgery, spine treatment, organ transplant, etc.
"NBCC would also participate in the massive restructuring of AIIMS infrastructure, including the redevelopment of AIIMS residential complexes in its Western Campus and Ayurvigyan Nagar," said Anoop Mittal, CMD, NBCC, in a statement issued by the organisation.
Besides a control room for effective coordination and communication, the facility will have networking linkages with other hospitals and agencies.
A helipad will be built on its roof top so that critically injured patients can be airlifted for immediate medical attention.
