Jharkhand: While the results of NEET PG 2018 are due to be announced any day now, PG aspirants across the country are now getting jitters after many received calls, demanding huge sums of money in return of increasing their ranks in the much-awaited results
An investigation into such calls has been now lodged by the Deputy Commissioner in East Singhbum in the state of Jharkhand after the DC received a complaint from the Jamshedpur IMA branch, in this regard. The complaint was filed by Secretary of the IMA Jharkhand Chapter, after he received numerous complaints from students in the area.
"I have received a complaint and have asked the senior SP, Mathew to probe into the racket in which some people have approached as many as 10 students seeking admission into medical post-graduate course through NEET. The IMA's local chapter secretary Mrityunjay Singh had on Thursday lodged a complaint by providing a CD. Some people have claimed to be a data entry operator in NEET, New Delhi had demanded Rs 5 lakh for improving the ranks of the candidates in the NEET results on the basis of which they would get admission in the PG course in various medical colleges," East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Amit Kumar told Daily Pioneer.
The daily ads that one of the students came forward and informed that he got a call from a number 7370955495 by a man claiming to be one Yashvant Sinha posted as a Data Entry Operator in NEET, New Delhi. " He said that and he can manage to increase ranking in the NEET results for Rs 5 lakh. He said fifty percent of the amount has to be paid in advance and remaining 50 percent after the results are out," the student requesting anonymity told Daily Pioneer.
The youth told Telegraph that his batchmate too got a similar call 15 minutes before him. "Gradually, we found out eight more candidates like us. The numbers they received calls from were 09007335911, 09934161248 and 8581058853. One of the callers identified himself as Gopal Madhav," said the aspirant.
With many students receiving similar calls, they approached the local IMA branch, which inturn filed a case with the DC. " It is uncanny that the caller knew everything about the aspirants including their IDs, their identification marks, etc. He further informed them that their ranks are low and can be improved in exchange of money. This needs to be thoroughly investigated. " Dr Mrityunjay told Medical Dialogues team.
The investigation has now been launched with the police enquiring on call details records (CDRs) of the cell phone numbers from which the calls were allegedly made to the students
"It is absolutely important that the police investigates the matter thoroughly. We cannot allow miscreants to play with the lives and careers of the students, " Dr Pradeep Singh State Secretary, IMA Jharkhand told Medical Dialogues team on the growing complaints in the area. He also advised students not to fall into the trap of such racketeers and immediately report the same.
