New Delhi: 28-year old female Doctor found dead in her Hospital Cabin, family alleges foul play
New Delhi: A 28-year old female medical practitioner was mysteriously found dead in her cabin at a city-based private hospital. Based on a preliminary investigation, the police is considering it as a suicide, however, her family has alleged foul play and demanded an investigation.
The young doctor was residing at Panchsheel Park area with her husband who is also a doctor. . The doctor had completed her MBBS from Safdarjung Hospital, MD Anaethesia from RML and was now pursuing super-specialisation in critical care. She was posted in the neurology department at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital in West Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area for the last one year
The incident took place on Saturday night. According to media reports, on the day of the incident, the deceased doctor was in consistent contact with her family members over phone and video calls from her cabin. She even consulted a few patients after talking to them.
The CCTV footage showed that she last attended a patient at 12:15 am and later entered her cabin at 12:18 am.
The next morning when the doctor did not come out of her cabin, the door was knocked. When no reaction came from inside, the door was forcibly opened.
The body of the doctor was found lying on the floor with empty syringe beside her. The cops were immediately informed.
The police reached the spot and analyzed the situation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Monika Bhardwaj told ANI, "A PCR call was received at 5:50 am. On the first floor of Dr. Cabin of Neuro ICU, the aluminium door was locked from inside and was forcibly opened. A syringe was found lying on the floor near the dead body, the injection was taken on left arm, her bag and mobile phone were found."
The police further informed that prima facie it appears to be a case of alleged suicide by injecting some substance as a syringe was recovered from the crime scene.
However, the family members denied the suicide and alleging foul play demanded a thorough investigation in the case. The father of the deceased doctor told ANI that her daughter was killed in a planned manner, adding that she was not happy working in the hospital because of internal politics at her workplace.
He further expressed anguish as no one from the hospital has spoken to the aggrieved family.
Jitender Harjai, uncle of the deceased doctor alleged to TOI, "She is said to have injected a complete bottle of Propofol, which is not possible as a person loses consciousness in 20 seconds, or even less. There are marks and bruises on her arm as if somebody had held her hand. The brand of medicine is also not available in the hospital. The staff found her dead at 4:50am and contacted us only at 6:50am."
The family alleged that the hospital staff claimed to have forced open the door, but the latch was broken on the wrong side.
"There was another door for which keys were available, but that door was not used," a relative alleged.
The police further informed that the body has been sent for autopsy and the case will be registered only after the report comes.
"Since it's been one year of marriage, a magisterial inquiry has also been initiated," the police said.
