18-year-old NEET aspirant commits suicide in Kota, 13th such case in 6 months
Kota: In a tragic incident, an 18-year-old NEET aspirant from Udaipur allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room in the Vigyan Nagar Police Station area on Tuesday morning.
This is the third suicide case reported in the city this month. Five such suicide cases have already been reported in May, while there have been 13 cases in total since the beginning of the year. At least 15 students took to the extreme step in 2022.
The teenager, preparing for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), allegedly hanged himself sometime in the intervening nights of Monday and Tuesday. However, no suicide note was recovered from the hostel room, police added.

The deceased boy was a resident of Salumbar in the Udaipur district and had been preparing for NEET in a coaching institute in Kota for the past two months. He was living in a hostel in the Vigyan Nagar area.
As per a PTI report, he was alone in his hostel room as his roommate was away that night. When he did not come out of the room till late Tuesday morning, others in the hostel informed the caretaker, who broke the door open and found the boy hanging from a ceiling fan.
The body was shifted to the mortuary at MBS Hospital. His post-mortem will be conducted after the arrival of his family members, Circle Inspector (CI) at Vigyan Nagar Police Station Devesh Bhardwaj said.
The following incidents are raising concerns among the family members of the deceased, who are desperate to find out the reasons behind such extreme actions taken by their children.
Medical Dialogues had reported the first suicide incident this month where an 18-year-old NEET aspirant from West Bengal, preparing for the medical entrance test at a coaching institute in Rajasthan's Kota, died after being found unconscious in his paying guest accommodation.
In the second incident, a 21-year-old NEET aspirant from Bihar allegedly committed suicide in Kota after failing to get desired marks in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in two successive attempts.
