350 Additional MBBS seats in Bihar this year
Patna: The medical aspirants in Bihar can rejoice as this year the State has 50 additional MBBS seats in Government and 300 additional seats in private medical colleges.
While 50 additional state quota seats are in the ESIC Medical College Patna, the 300 additional MBBS seats are from two private medical colleges in the state, Sree Narayan Medical Institute and Hospital Saharsa and RDJM Medical College and Hospital Muzaffarpur, reports Hindustan.
Medical Dialogues had reported last year that in a major boost to medical education and services, a new medical college with 100 MBBS seats initially, was set to come up by August 2021.
Later, back in September 2021, the Central Government gave its nod for the same and the green signal came from the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, headed by Bhupender Yadav.
Among the 100 MBBS seats in ESIC Medical College Patna, 15% are reserved for All India Quota students and 35% are earmarked for ESIT quota candidates. The rest of the seats i.e. 50 MBBS seats fall under the category of State Quota seats.

Both in Sree Narayan Medical Institute and Hospital Saharsa and RDJM Medical College and Hospital Muzaffarpur the process of enrolling 150 MBBS seats each will start from this year onwards.
This time, there are 1121 MBBS seats available in 11 government medical colleges of the State and along with 30 seats in Patna Dental College, the total count stands at 1151 seats.
Meanwhile, the registration process for getting enrolled in MBBS Dental, Veterinary, and AYUSH Department in 85 percent seats of government and private colleges-universities of the state has commenced from Sunday, i.e. January 16.
Students can register themselves for admission till 10 pm on January 22.
Along with the increased seats, more medical aspirants will be able to pursue their medical education in the State and it is also expected that this will contribute for the betterment of the healthcare facilities in Bihar.
