4,690 MS Obstetrics Gynaecology seats, 615 in Karnataka, 499 Maharashtra, 461 Tamil Nadu: NMC PG medical seat matrix 2026

New Delhi: 4,690 seats in MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology are available across medical colleges in India for the academic year 2026-27, according to the latest postgraduate medical seat matrix released by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
As per the list, the highest number of M.S. Obstetrics and Gynaecology seats is 615 in Karnataka, followed by Maharashtra with 499 seats and Tamil Nadu with 461 seats.
Medical Dialogues earlier reported that the NMC released a seat matrix on September 29 showing a total of 63,177 MD, MS, Diploma, DM and MCh medical seats for the academic year 2026-27. However, the NMC clarified that the latest seat matrix does not include seats related to applications received for an increase in the intake of existing PG courses or for the commencement of new PG courses for the academic year 2026-27.
According to the latest seat matrix, Uttar Pradesh has 394 M.S. Obstetrics and Gynaecology seats, Andhra Pradesh has 387 seats, Telangana has 330 seats, Rajasthan has 291 seats, Gujarat has 286 seats, Madhya Pradesh has 219 seats, West Bengal has 218 seats, Kerala has 142 seats, and Bihar has 124 seats.
Similarly, Delhi has 117 seats, Odisha has 98 seats, Haryana has 69 seats, Jammu and Kashmir has 66 seats, Puducherry has 62 seats, Punjab has 60 seats, Assam has 54 seats, Uttarakhand has 40 seats, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh have 38 seats each, Jharkhand and Manipur have 22 seats each, and Chandigarh has 10 seats.
The matrix with fewer seats includes Goa and Tripura, which have eight seats each, while Dadra and Nagar Haveli has four seats. Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Sikkim have two seats each.
Meanwhile, no M.S. Obstetrics and Gynaecology seats are listed for Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the matrix.
