Another NEET aspirant found dead in hostel room in Kota
Kota: In an unfortunate incident, a 17-year-old NEET aspirant from Uttar Pradesh allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling in his hostel room in Kota. His body was recovered by the police on Wednesday.
This is the second suicide by a coaching student in Kota in the span of 24 hours and the fourth suicide case was reported in the city this month. Five such suicide cases have already been reported in May, while there have been 14 cases in total since the beginning of the year. At least 15 students took to the extreme step in 2022.
Medical dialogues had recently reported the suicide case of an 18-year-old NEET aspirant from Udaipur who allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room in the Vigyan Nagar Police Station area on Tuesday morning.

Circle Inspector (CI) at Vigyan Nagar police station Devesh Bhardwaj said the teen was a resident of Jaunpur city in Uttar Pradesh. was found hanging in his PG room in Sector – 2 of the area on Tuesday night.
A class 11th student, Seth was preparing for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in a coaching institute for the last two months and living in a PG room, he told PTI.
As per a media report in TOI, the shocking incident was discovered by his friends who went to check up on him after he did not show up for dinner at 8 PM on Tuesday. Worried about him, his friends reached his PG room on the 3rd floor and peeped through a cooler window and found him hanging to the ceiling fan.
Following this, they alerted the hostel management and the police were informed of the case. Upon reaching the spot, the police conducted a preliminary investigation and found a suicide note from his PG room, wherein, the deceased claimed that he ended his life out of his own wish and that no one else was responsible for his action, Bhardwaj added.
The deceased parents, who reached Kota early Wednesday morning, told the media that their son was good at studies, adding that he would speak to them over the phone on a daily basis, but never shared that he was distressed.
His elder brother, who is now an engineer, also studied in Kota, they said.
Police handed over his body to his family members on Wednesday morning and lodged a case under section 174 of Cr. P.C. for the investigation to ascertain the actual reason for death.
The first suicide incident this month was that of an 18-year-old NEET aspirant from West Bengal, preparing for the medical entrance test at a coaching institute in Rajasthan's Kota, died after being found unconscious in his paying guest accommodation.
In the second incident, a 21-year-old NEET aspirant from Bihar allegedly committed suicide in Kota after failing to get desired marks in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in two successive attempts.
