Around 1000 MBBS, 50 PG seats likely to be added in Telangana this year
Hyderabad: Bringing good news to the medical aspirants in Telangana, another 950 to 1000 additional MBBS seats are going to be added in the State from the upcoming academic year 2023-2024.
Apart from the MBBS seats, 50 additional PG superspecialty seats are also going to be added in the government medical colleges in the State, adds Telangana Today.
The senior health officials of the State have assured that these additional MBBs seats will be added in the government medical colleges since the National Medical Commission (NMC) is encouraging all the State governments to set up more medical colleges.
Among these 1000 MBBS seats, already NMC has given green signal to the State Director of Medical Education (DME) for 200 seats in the upcoming medical colleges in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad and Kamareddy districts.

As per the latest media report by Telangana Today, the State is expecting the NMC nod for the remaining 800 medical seats in the upcoming government medical colleges in Rajanna Sircilla, Vikarabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jangaon, and Nirmal.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that earlier this year, Telangana Medical and Health Minister T Harish Rao had informed the Assembly that presently a total of 42 medical colleges are available in the state. This includes 17 government medical colleges, one ESI and 24 private medical colleges.
The Minister said that a total number of 6,715 MBBS seats are available in the state now. Of them, 2,790 are in Government medical colleges, 53 in ESI medical college and 3,800 in private medical colleges.
A total number of 2,556 Post Graduate seats are available in the state. Of them 1,163 in government medical colleges, 53 in ESI medical college and 1,340 in private medical colleges, Rao said.
Therefore, with another 1000 MBBS seats being added to the seat matrix of the State, more MBBS seats will be available for medical aspirants and increase their chances of securing MBBS admission.
