NMC approves 2 new medical colleges with 100 MBBS seats each in Telangana
Hyderabad: Giving a reason to medical aspirants to celebrate, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its nod to two more new medical colleges in Kamareddy and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts of Telangana with 100 MBBS seats in each college for the academic year 2023-24.
The announcement in this regard was made by Health Minister T Harish Rao on Saturday. The approved medical colleges in the state would further strengthen medical education and healthcare facilities in rural areas.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Rao said “This is a significant step towards achieving CM Sri KCR Garu’s vision of having a medical college in every district. 7 more medical colleges are at various levels for permission in Telangana.”

“This will not only enhance healthcare services in the state but also provide more opportunities for aspiring medical professionals,” Rao added.
The above announcement is good news for medical aspirants residing in rural areas who are often forced to travel to other districts for admission to a proper medical college.
In a letter issued to the Principal of sanctioned medical colleges on April 5, The National Medical Commission Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARD) mentioned “This permission for starting of above mentioned MBBS course and admission of students will be for such time the first batch of students admitted against the above course appears for the final examination in the subject.”
“The college authorities may take up the matter for recognition of qualification under Section 35(2) of the IMC Act at the time of the first batch admitted against the sanctioned intake appears of final examination with National Medical Commission,” it added.
"We are further directed to inform you that you and your institution is fully responsible to fulfil and maintain norms including the infrastructure both physical and human resource, teaching faculty and clinical material etc throughout the academic year. It is mandatory to develop a biometric attendance website on the medical college/institution and display all information of the college, courses offered, faculty available and their experience of the last 5 years, students joined and affiliating university,” notes the letter.
