North India's 1st Govt Homoeopathy College in Kathua gets approval to admit 63 students in its first academic session
Kathua: In a boost to AYUSH education, North India's first Government Homoeopathic College, centrally funded at Rs 80 crore coming up in the Jasrota area of district Kathua recently received the approval to admit 63 students in its first academic session.
The institution is being built in line with the Modi Govt's healthcare approach of synergizing allopathic with Ayush streams of medicine, including Homoeopathy, Ayurveda and naturopathy.
The college, approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the Ministry of Ayush at the request of Dr Jitendra Singh, will enrol its inaugural class of 63 students.
"The counselling process for admission to the first batch of Government Homoeopathic College is going to start shortly," said Dr BR Dub, Nodal officer of the college, quotes ANI
Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, announced the news on X, underscoring the institution's importance for the region.
"Heartening news for Kathua and Jammu and Kashmir in general. The Homeopathy College, sanctioned at our request by PM Narendra Modi through the Ministry of Ayush, the land site of which was visited on 10th March 2024, has been granted approval to start its first batch with 63 students," Dr Singh wrote.
Dub further stated that the Jammu and Kashmir government has already bought the property at Rakh Hoshiyari and the construction of the boundary wall is underway along with an academic block and 60-bed facility for the patients.
The Principal of GMC Kathua, Dr Surinder Attri said, "This is a very prestigious college in north India and the students from J-K and other states will be admitted to the college."
The people of Kathua expressed their gratitude to Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh for his efforts in securing the establishment of a new homoeopathic college in the region.
This significant milestone in the health sector and development in the district is seen as a great opportunity for local youth, who want to pursue higher education in homeopathy, while also providing better treatment options for patients, and cost-effective treatment.
Additionally, the college is expected to boost the local economy by creating new employment opportunities and commercial activity in the area.
