Cancellation of MBBS admission in RIMS: HC seeks clarification from NMC

Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has recently sought clarification from the Apex medical education regulatory body- National Medical Commission (NMC) in a plea concerning the cancellation of MBBS admission of a disabled candidate in the state-run Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).
Issuing notice in this regard, the bench has posted the matter for further hearing on March 14, 2023.
The concerned MBBS aspirant, who hailed from Lohardaga district of the State, approached the High Court bench challenging the cancellation of his admission and sought relief.
He informed the court about his hearing difficulties and he further pointed out before the High Court bench that the seat, which was reserved for disabled candidates, was allotted to a candidate from outside the State.

As per the latest media report by Lagatar 24, the counsel for the petitioner candidate, Advocate Rasik Soren informed the bench that the petitioner was selected for admission in RIMS as he was fully qualified for the same. Consequently, the medical college collected all the fees from the candidate at the time of admission.
However, after a few days, RIMS allegedly cancelled the admission of the concerned student and also did not give any specific reason for the same. Consequently, his seat got allotted to another candidate, who is from outside the State.
After taking note of the submission, the bench issued notice to NMC and sought clarification from the Apex medical commission. Apart from issuing notice to NMC, the court has also issued notice to the girl seeking her reply in the matter. Besides, the HC bench has also asked the petitioner candidate to submit his pure tone audiometric (PTA) test report after getting his ear properly tested from any designated centre in Kolkata.
The matter has been deferred for further hearing till March 14, 2023.
