'Cash for Pass' probe begins at Tripura Medical College
Tripura- Proper inquiry has been launched into the allegations of corruption in passing the MBBS students of Tripura Medical College (TMC), run by a society affiliated with Tripura Central University.
Tripura Chief Minister Professor Dr Manik Saha recently spoke on the allegations and responding to media queries at a recent event, Dr Saha said the authorities were conducting a proper inquiry into the allegations against the Tripura Medical College. He said after coming to know about the matter, he had been directed to take action as per the law. If such things are happening, they should be stopped. However, such incidents are not acceptable and therefore, the matter is currently under investigation.
According to the recent NortheastNow report, sources have claimed that the allegations are directly related to the examinations conducted in the private medical college. Along with this, sources have also alleged that some faculty members and top officials of Tripura University demanded a hefty amount from the students to pass the examination. Those who failed to pass their back papers despite several attempts target students and persuade them to pay money to pass easily. Initially, the students are being asked to pay between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh to pass the back papers through unfair means.
The Crime Branch unit of Tripura Police registered the case and accordingly began an investigation into the "cash for pass" allegations against Tripura Medical College, Hapania. Meanwhile, in the investigation, some people were also reportedly questioned in connection with the case.
Moreover, Tripura police sources have also confirmed that based on the allegations, an investigation has begun to identify the mastermind behind the exam-related irregularities.
