DCI directs Dental Colleges on Timely Conduction of BDS Final Year Exams, Declaration Of Results
New Delhi: Through a recent notice Dental Council of India (DCI) has advised for timely conduction of BDS final year examination and declaration of results for timely completion of the compulsory paid rotatory internship.
As per the notice the date up to which the candidate can join MDS/PG Diploma Courses is May 31st, 2022. Therefore not much scope is left to extend the date of completion of an internship for 2022-23.
The DCI has stated that the pandemic is not yet over and has affected all sections of society and all teaching institutes, including Dental Colleges. The Dental College schedule of all activities, including the admission process, classes exams, training, has been hampered due to pandemics and could not be completed at the time schedule.
DCI has tried to make its best effort to minimize the impact of pandemics on students' careers by rescheduling the schedule with prior approval of the Central Government. Various advisories have been issued from time to time, including UG and PG exams conducted by Dental Colleges/ Universities in the past two years.
The NBEMS has already issued NEET MDS 2022 bulletin for admission to PG Dental Courses. One of the eligibility criteria for applying to NEET MDS 2022 is the date of completion of the compulsory paid rotatory internship by March 31st, 2022. The main reason behind the start/ completion of the training was either delay in exams/pandemic.
NBEMS results will be declared by March 21st, 2022, and the counseling is expected to start from the 1st week of April. The internship completion certificate and valid registration of State Dental Council are essential for admission, and the same has to be available with the candidate at the time of counseling.
To prevent the reoccurrence of a similar problem being faced by the student in the future, DCI has requested all the dental colleges and its affiliating universities to ensure timely conduction of the BDS final year exam every year in January – February and declare the results latest up to March. Students will be able to start their internship by March or April 1st and complete their compulsory one-year paid rotatory internship on or before March 31st of every year.
