Delhi: The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has invited applications for NEET MDS 2023.

The application will be available from 9th January 2023 (7 pm onwards) to 30th January 2023 (Till 11:55 pm). Application for NEET-MDS 2023 can only be submitted online through the NBEMS website https://nbe.edu.in. There is no other methodology for application submission. Application submitted through any other mode will be summarily rejected.

The edit window for all payment success applications will be available from 2nd February 2023 to 5th February 2023. The admit card will be issued on 22nd February 2023. The examination will be conducted on 1st March 2023 on a Computer Based Platform at various test centres across the country, and the results will be declared by 31st March 2023. The cutoff date for completion of the internship towards eligibility for NEET-MDS 2023 is 31st March 2023.

NEET-MDS is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination for admission to various MDS Courses under the Dentists Act of 1948 (amended from time to time). No other entrance examination, either at the state or the Institution level, will be valid for entry to MDS courses. Qualifying for NEET-MDS is mandatory for entry to MDS courses under various Universities/ Institutions in the country.

The scope of NEET MDS –

1. All India 50% quota seats for MDS courses (all states).

2. State quota seats for MDS courses for India's States/Union territories.

3. MDS courses at all Private Dental Colleges, Institutions & Universities across the country.

4. MDS courses at Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.

5. Screening exam for dental surgeons (BDS & MDS) for Short Service Commission in Army Dental Corps.

The candidates note that AIIMS Delhi is not covered for admission to MDS courses through NEET-MDS for the 2023-24 admission session. No state government/private dental college/Universities shall be conducting any separate entrance for admission to their MDS Courses for the admission session 2023-24.

Instructions to the candidates –

1. Candidate should ensure that all the information entered during the online submission of the application form is correct and factual. Information provided by the candidates in the online application form will be treated as correct, and NBEMS will not entertain, under any circumstances, any request for change in the information provided by the candidates.

2. Candidates are advised to ensure that no mandatory column in the online application form is left blank.

3. The option of editing certain information entered in the application form shall be available to the candidates during the edit window. No new application can be registered, or payment can be made during the edit window.

4. Final Edit Window: Deficiency related to images uploaded (photograph, Signature, Thumb Impression) shall be intimated to the concerned candidates, and the same can be corrected during the final edit window (10th February 2023 to 13th February 2023). No further opportunity shall be given to make corrections.

5. A candidate can submit NEET-MDS 2023 application form only once. The candidates found to have submitted more than one application form for NEET-MDS 2023 may be debarred from NEET-MDS, their candidature may be cancelled, and further action as deemed appropriate by NBEMS will be taken.

6. Admit Cards will not be issued to candidates who are declared ineligible before the conduct of the examination.

7. Candidates found ineligible at any stage of the NEET-MDS 2023 Examination will not be permitted to appear in the examination.

8. NBEMS reserves the right to withdraw permission, if any, granted inadvertently to any candidate who is not eligible to appear in the NEET-MDS 2023 Examinations even though the admit card/roll number has been issued or name/roll number is displayed on NBEMS website.

9. Request shall not be entertained for change in date/centre of examination under any circumstances.

10. Possession/ Use of mobile phones/Electronic devices are strictly prohibited on the premises of NBEMS Test Centres. Candidates shall be liable for penal action for Possession/ Use of Mobile phones/ Electronic devices.

11. The prescribed exam fee should be remitted through a payment gateway provided using a Credit Card or a Debit Card issued by banks in India or other modes as may be made available and have been provided on the web page. Fee cannot be deposited through any mode other than the payment gateway available while submitting the online application form submission.

Eligibility criteria –

1. A candidate for admission to the Master in Dental Surgery course must possess a recognized degree of Bachelor in Dental Surgery awarded by a university or institute in India and registered with the State Dental Council and has obtained provisional or permanent registration and has undergone compulsory rotatory internship of a year in an approved/recognized dental college.

2. After passing the final qualifying examination (BDS or the foreign dental degree recognized by GoI/DCI), a candidate is undergoing 12-month compulsory rotatory internship/ practical training and is likely to complete the same by 31st March 2023 and can take up this examination. Still, they shall not be eligible for admission unless they have completed the compulsory rotatory internship and obtained provisional or permanent registration on or before 31st March 2023 or the candidate produces a certificate from the head of the Institution that they will be completing the internship by 31st March 2023.

Eligibility criteria for All India 50% quota seats –

Candidates who have studied/passed BDS from the UT of Jammu & Kashmir are eligible for counselling for 50% of All India Quota seats. These candidates shall also be eligible for participation in the 'Grant of Short Service Commission in Army Dental Corps' and MDS admissions in Armed Forces Institutes.

Eligibility criteria for foreign nationals –

1. The Dental Council of India should recognize their basic Dental Qualification equivalent to BDS.

2. Foreign Nationals desirous of appearing in NEET-MDS and those, who are required to have security clearance as per the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) requirements, shall obtain the security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India before applying for NEET-MDS examination. The security clearance must be submitted while applying for the NEET-MDS examination.

Scheme of NEET-MDS 2023 –

1. NEET-MDS 2023 shall be conducted in a single day & single session as a computer-based examination on 1st March 2023.

2. The syllabus for the exam shall be that of BDS standard and shall cover all the subjects/syllabus taught during the BDS course as prescribed in the DCI Revised BDS Course Regulations, 2007, as amended from time to time.

3. The examination shall be a multiple choice questions test delivered using a computer network (CBT) as per the scheme prescribed.

4. The exam comprises 240 Multiple Choice Questions, with each question having 4 response options/ distractors in the English language only. Candidates must select the correct/best/most appropriate response/answer out of the 4 response options provided in each question. The time allotted is 3 hrs.

5. There shall be a 25% negative marking for incorrect answers. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.

6. During the examination, candidates are given the option to mark any question, whether attempted or not, for review, which means that the candidate has been given the option to go through these questions again before the examination ends. Candidates may note that such questions marked for review shall be evaluated per the marking scheme mentioned above.

Marking Scheme: Allocation of marks for each MCQ shall be as follows –

1. Correct response – 4 marks

2. Incorrect response - 1 Mark shall be deducted

3. Unattempted question – Zero

Allocation of time for NEET-MDS 2023 –

1. Allow Candidates to enter the examination centre and Commence Registration for the test - 07:00 AM

2. Entry closes at Examination Center - 08:30 AM

3. Grant access for Candidate Login - 08:45 AM

4. Candidates log in to read instructions - 08:50 AM

5. Exam Start Time - 09:00 AM

6. Exam End Time - 12:00 PM
